    BBO Crystals

BBO Crystals by Raicol: Key Features and Applications

BBO Crystals (Beta-Barium Borate) from Raicol are renowned for their high optical homogeneity and low bulk absorption from the infrared (IR) to deep ultraviolet (UV) range. With a high laser-induced damage threshold (LIDT) and minimal absorption, these crystals are the ideal choice for high-order harmonic conversions.

BBO crystals are highly effective for generating 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th harmonics, as well as for optical parametric oscillation (OPO), covering a broad wavelength range from 190 to 1780 nm. They are prized for their versatility in nonlinear laser interactions, combining:

    • Wide Transmission range.
    • High nonlinear coefficient.
    • Low absorption.
    • High damage threshold.

    Overview

Overview of BBO Crystals by Raicol

BBO Crystals (Beta-Barium Borate) from Raicol offer exceptional optical homogeneity with extremely low bulk absorption across a wide spectral range, from IR to Deep UV. Their high laser-induced damage threshold (LIDT) and low absorption make them an ideal choice for high-order harmonic conversions.

BBO crystals are widely used in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th harmonic generation as well as optical parametric oscillation (OPO), covering a wavelength range from 190 to 1780 nm. These versatile crystals provide high nonlinear coefficients, making them highly effective in nonlinear laser interactions.

With the ability to phase-match over a broad range, BBO crystals enable efficient Second Harmonic Generation (SHG), Sum Frequency Generation (SFG), and OPO, making them indispensable for a variety of advanced laser applications.

    Key Features

    • Wide Transmission Range: BBO crystals offer a broad transmission region from 185 nm to 3500 nm, covering a wide range of optical applications.
    • Broad SHG Phase Matching: Capable of phase matching for Second Harmonic Generation (SHG) from 205 nm to 1300 nm, allowing for versatile harmonic generation.
    • High SHG Efficiency: BBO crystals have a large effective SHG coefficient, approximately 6 times higher than KDP crystals, making them highly efficient in nonlinear optical processes.
    • High Damage Threshold: BBO crystals possess a high laser damage threshold, making them suitable for high-power laser applications.
    • Optical Homogeneity: Excellent optical quality with optical homogeneity of δn ≤10⁻⁶/cm, ensuring minimal distortion in laser beams.
    • Wide Temperature Bandwidth: BBO crystals exhibit wide temperature tolerance, allowing stable performance in varying environmental conditions.
